INTERNATIONAL COELIAC
DISEASE SYMPOSIUM

We are delighted to invite you to the 20th International Coeliac Disease Symposium. The International Coeliac Disease Symposium is unique in bringing together so many clinicians and researchers from a wide array of disciplines. Medics, scientists, dietitians and agricultural experts to name just a few. This meeting gives an opportunity for dare we say, industry and commercial gluten free manufacturers, ‘cross fertilisation’ and to see coeliac disease as a multisystem disease that requires a multi-disciplinary approach. We have tried to make the programme truly reflective of this and we hope that you will enjoy the variety of sessions on offer.

Sheffield is both the NHS England National Centre for Refractory Disease but also one of the largest UK GI Departments with more than 30 Consultants (www.sheffieldgastro.nhs.uk) we are delighted to be hosting this meeting.

We also hope that you will like our city. Sheffield is one of England’s ancient and largest cities, with a population of over half a million. Located on rolling hills and dissected by river valleys. It is one of the greenest and most wooded cities in Europe. More than a third of the city lies inside the beautiful Peak District National Park. There is 61% green space in Sheffield, more than any other city in the world and it is reported to be the UK’s most sustainable city (from an independent survey by NatWest and the University of Southampton 2021). In 2023 Time Out (www.timeout.com) ranked Sheffield as the 2nd place for a European City Break. So there is plenty on offer when you are not in the meeting.

We hope to see you very soon.
